This project is located at Building 1 of the Heyei Campus of The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, whose elevator shafts are enclosed by a glass curtain wall. Because the original sealant had been exposed to the outdoor environment for a long time, it severely aged, cracked, hardened and detached, causing seepage at many window edges and frame nodes. This maintenance systematically replaced and treated the entire elevator curtain-wall sealing system: thoroughly removing aged, failed sealant, re-applying high-performance weather-resistant sealant at glass-aluminum joints, simultaneously investigating and repairing leakage nodes, and applying anti-corrosion treatment to rusted metal parts. Work was done by high-altitude rope and suspended platform, completing all operations without disturbing the hospital's normal diagnosis and treatment order.

Safety Measures

  • Dual-rope safety system: each worker has a main + secondary rope dual-suspension system, independently anchored to the roof structure.
  • Roof anchor acceptance: roof anchor points put into use only after pull-out test passes; re-inspect anchor status every morning.
  • Personal protective equipment: all wear dual-hook harnesses, retractable fall arresters, anti-slip gloves, helmets and reflective vests.
  • Hospital no-closure coordination: coordinate with hospital security and logistics, set ground warning isolation, avoid peak outpatient hours.
  • Weather monitoring: monitor wind speed and rain forecast; stop high-altitude work immediately if wind ≥ level 5 or in thunderstorm.
  • Emergency response plan: first-aid kits and communication equipment on site, clear emergency contact and nearest medical route.

Construction Flow

  1. Site survey & inspection — inspect sealant aging level by level, mark leakage points.
  2. Safety facility setup — install roof anchors, lay main/secondary ropes, debug platforms.
  3. Old sealant removal — thoroughly scrape aged sealant with special knives + chemical remover.
  4. Substrate treatment — clean and dry glass & aluminum surfaces, apply primer to enhance adhesion.
  5. New sealant application — neutral silicone weather-resistant sealant applied evenly per spec.
  6. Smoothing & finishing — smooth joints with spatula while wet, keep lines neat.
  7. Metal anti-corrosion — derust and repaint or replace rusted aluminum clamps, bolts.
  8. Water-spray acceptance — water-spray test on key areas, confirm no leakage, hand over.
